Pre-Christmas

Jake and Aidan got to decorate a Christmas cake each earlier this month, which they thoroughly enjoyed. Grandma had to bring the cakes up to the farm for safe-keeping though.

And as per tradition (for the last few years), we went to the Carols rehearsals at the Domain on the 23rd. It was absolutely freezing, and it was definitely much busier compared to previous years, but we enjoyed it nevertheless.

Christmas morning

Brendan came over on Christmas Eve and we attended the Carols/midnight service at St. Patrick's. On Christmas morning we had the traditional Lacey Christmas breakfast of assorted cereals. There were two packets of Coco Pops for the boys so there was no fighting at the table.

Truly stuffed turkey

We had Sophia, Jeremy and Honoria over for Christmas lunch. Both Sophia and Jeremy were on call but luckily they weren't called at all that day. We had an absolutely fantastic and enjoyable lunch.

Sally's only request for Christmas lunch was for stuffing, so I happily obliged with 4 loaves worth of stuffing!!! Our poor turkey was so stuffed we had to hold the stuffing in with surgical sutures. But over the course of cooking it gave up the fight and the stuffing exploded from both ends of the turkey, and we ended up with a two-headed turkey.

In the bowl is one "head" of the turkey.............

Christmas menu:
Coffin Bay oysters au naturale
King prawns with guacamole
Yummy stuffing served with turkey
Roast Dutch cream potatoes and sweet potatoes
Roast vegie salad (from Brendan)
Beans and asparagus sprinkled with slivered almond

Christmas lunch at our place

Honoria made some very yummy deserts to top off a lovely day:

Meringue with Bailey-flavoured mascarpone, finished off with roasted hazelnut, Lindt chocolate and strawberries

After lunch we went over to Stephen and Karen's. We will put up those photos next time.

Men at work

Brendan came over for dinner so I put him to work helping me fix the leaking showerhead. We changed the washers and after several attempts, we succeeded. If Brendan had just listened to me the first time, we would have finished a lot quicker. It's a good thing Brendan cannot write on this blog : )

End of year Squash drinks

We played our last game on Tuesday and celebrated with some champagne on court, and then headed to the pub after the game. (However, we tend to go to the pub after every game, so that's not new). For some bizarre reason, we were all wearing red that day.

Melbourne summer!!!

We had a gathering this weekend for the Squash gang at our place. We thought that it would be safe to have a BBQ in the middle of December. Well, it pretty much rained all day (top of 14C).... however, the food was SENSATIONAL even if I do say so myself. We had an entree of garlic quail, then octopus and pasta (those buggers took HOURS to clean), and of course sausages and burgers. Sorry no visuals.

Jake and Emma on the trampoline

Happy Birthday Eoin!!!

We celebrated Eoin's first birthday on the weekend. It was a grand affair with loads of people, food, and fun. Eoin was in great form and seemed to enjoy playing with everyone. He was full of smiles all day. The cute birthday boy was dressed up in a pirate's T shirt and bandana. He has also just started taking some steps but we have yet to witness this milestone.
