Japan week 1 - Tokyo

Sorry about the break, everyone. We were without reliable internet for 3 weeks after we moved to our new place (thanks Telstra and Optus)....

Anyway.... back to our trip to Japan in Nov/Dec. Our first week in Japan was spent mainly in Tokyo. We were very fortunate that we managed to catch the end of the Autumn Red Leave Season.

We walked past this beautiful garden in the middle of Tokyo, the photo doesn't really do it much justice. It was stunning.


A couple of buildings inside the Tokyo Imperial Palace.



The Palace's grounds were open to the public, it was so relaxing strolling through this immaculately maintained garden. We absolutely loved the vivid colors.



Arriving at the Fish Market at 06:30am was too late for the tuna auction!!!


There were tonnes of sushi/sashimi places near the market, and why wouldn't they when the market delivers the fresh catch straight to your front door (or window, in this case)



Our sushi chef averaged 15seconds for each piece of sushi.


Yummy............


Derek LOVED the bullet trains, "they are SOOOO cool" he cooed everytime he saw one.
